With their mix of jazz, afrobeat, Guinean malinké, Brazilian candomblé and samba, Bixiga 70 is a welcome addition to any party. Taking Fela Kuti’s Afrika 70 band as a launch pad both in name and spirit, their fusion of African and American rhytms cause havoc in any dance.
The band’s sel-titled first album was released in 2011 and made many “Best of the Year” lists, like Rolling Stone’s and MTV’s.
Nominated to the Latin Grammy Award 2012 for Best Recording Package.
